Volleyball evens Record with 3-0 Win over Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (September 22, 2009) – The DeSales University volleyball team evened both its overall and Freedom Conference record on Tuesday with an easy 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-12) win over Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference match in Billera Hall.

The win is the seventh straight over the Aggies who fall to 10-3 overall and 0-2 in the Freedom with the loss. DSU totaled 46 kills as a team and hit .306 for the match, while DVC had just 19 kills and hit .052 for the match.

Leading the way was senior Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) with a team-high 11 kills and senior Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) with 10 kills and eight digs. Freshman setter Justine McNulty (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) also played well with eight kills, 31 assists, and 13 digs.

Senior Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) totaled a match-high 17 digs and had three aces as did sophomore Katie Dziuma (Bronx, NY/Preston). Junior Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) added five kills and 14 digs and the freshman combination of Paige Horrigan (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) and Morgan Hart (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) equaled seven kills and four blocks. Junior Alyssa Poplaski (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) added eight digs in just two sets played.

DSU returns to action tomorrow night when they travel cross-town to take on local rival Moravian College for the second time this season. Match begins at 7:00 pm.
