Center Valley, PA (September 26, 2009) – Senior Gina Locke (Gardner, MA/Gardner) scored her second goal of the season leading the DeSales University women's soccer team past Alvernia University, 2-1, in a non-conference game on Homecoming Saturday at DeSales.

DSU (3-6 overall) dominated play most of the afternoon as the Bulldogs out-shot Alvernia (2-8 overall), 34-11, en route to the win. Both teams had four corner kicks, while AU totaled 17 saves and sophomore Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) countered with four stops and DSU had one team save in the win.

Senior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) got the Bulldogs on the board with her first tally of the season and the 16th of her career when she scored on a PK at the 38:31 mark. DSU made it a two-goal game just 3:58 later when LaDuke fed junior Kaitlyn Gover (Northampton, PA/Northampton) in the left corner and Gover sent a crossing pass just in front of the goal cage. Locke was darting towards the back post as the ball sailed over the defense and Locke was there to head it home for third career goal.

Alvernia eventually cut the lead in half at the 66:07 mark of the second half but never really threatened again as DSU posted the one goal win. In the win LaDuke, moved into fourth place on the all-time scoring list with 47 career points, passing Kelly Burke.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday, September 29th when they host Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
