Center Valley, PA (September 29, 2009) – With everyone else watching and the match outcome hanging in the balance, sophomore Krista Damirgian (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) got the job done coming from behind to win a three-set nail biter, 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) to lead the DeSales University women's tennis team to a 5-4 win over Freedom Conference foe Manhattanville College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (3-5, 2-1 Freedom) started off slow winning just one doubles match to fall behind 2-1. Junior Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) and sophomore Christine Petrilla (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert-Hamilton East) teamed to earn the doubles point at the No. 1 spot, 8-3.

In singles play, Steiner and Petrilla each earned quick easy wins at the No. 1 and 2 spot as Steiner won, 6-1, 6-1 and Petrilla had to work a little harder for a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win at the No. 2 spot. Junior Yllka Cana (Allentown, PA/William Allen) continued her terrific singles play as she improved to 5-5 on the year with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 6 spot setting up Damirgian's heroics.

After losing the first set, 6-1, Damirgian fought hard to win the second set, 7-5, and then battled for a 10-8 win in the pro-set tiebreak to determine the match at the No. 3 singles position. It was Damirgian's third singles win of the year.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, October 3rd when they travel to Misericordia University for another Freedom Conference match beginning at 1:00 pm.
