Center Valley, PA (December 8, 2010) – Senior Brian Hunter had 21 points and eight assists and sophomore Brett Moyer recorded his first career double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past previous unbeaten Catholic University, 72-66, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

Hunter was once again outstanding shooting 4-of-8 from three-point land and falling just one assist short of tying his career-high in the win. Moyer recorded his first career double-double pulling down a career-high 12 boards and was 5-of-6 from the field in the win, while sophomore Brian Kerwin also reached double digits with 17 points on a 6-of-7 shooting effort including 4-for-4 outside the arc.

Jason Banzhaf finished with 18 points and eight rebounds for CUA (6-1 overall), while RJ Dixon led the Cardinal scoring with 19 points. Dan DiVietri also added nine points in the losing effort.

After an incredibly hot start to the game in which each team could not miss from the field, consecutive jumpers from the Cardinals gave the visitor's an 18-14 lead at the 11:41 mark. DeSales (5-2 overall) answered the quick Catholic start with an 11-0 run over a span of four minutes turning a four-point deficit into a seven-point lead (25-18) as four different players scored led by three points from Moyer.

DSU continued to lead the remainder of the half before a long three-pointer at the halftime buzzer from Hunter pushed the last back to seven (39-32) entering the locker rooms.

In the second half it was all Bulldogs as Catholic made it a five point game twice in the early stages of the half but DeSales used a quick 8-0 run to take a 13-point lead (49-36) at the 15:33 mark and never led by any less than eight points until the final minute when CUA pulled within six points twice including the final margin.

As a team, DeSales shot 52.2 percent from the field and out-rebounded the taller Cardinals, 37-24. Catholic entered the game out-rebounding the opposition by an average of 11.0 boards per game. Junior Jamey Bercier contributed seven rebounds and junior Tom Marshall had a solid game with four points and five boards off the bench for the Bulldogs.

DSU returns to action on Saturday when they host PSU-Wilkes-Barre in another non-conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
