Magrann Nets 30 Points; Bulldogs Win 10th Straight, 81-52, over FDU

Center Valley, PA (February 20, 2010) – Senior Kelly Magrann (Sinking Spring, PA/Holy Name) celebrated her 22nd birthday in style, netting a career-high 30 points, 21 in the first half, leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past FDU-Florham, 81-52, for the Bulldogs 10th straight win to finish the regular season as the #2 seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs.

The Bulldogs (16-9, 11-3 Freedom) will host the #3 seed, Delaware Valley College, who defeated Eastern University, 70-67, on Saturday to earn the #3 spot. Manhattanville College finishes the regular season as the #1 seed and will take on the #4 seed Misericordia University in the other semifinal game on Wednesday night.

Today it was all Bulldogs from the very beginning as DSU jumped out to a 10-2 lead and used a 16-4 run mid-way thru the half to open up a 16-point advantage (28-12). During the spurt, five different players scored led by Magrann's seven points. The Devils got within seven points once, but a three-pointer from Magrann sparked an 8-0 run with Magrann scoring all eight points as DSU cruised into the locker room with a 39-26 lead.

The second half was all Bulldogs with the lead peaking at 30 points (80-50) before the 81-52 final was posted. DSU shot 40.9 percent from the field for the game and forced 26 Devil turnovers. DeSales also controlled the boards against the bigger FDU lineup, out-rebounding the Devils, 45-42.

Magrann hit seven three-pointers as part of her 30 points and also had three assists. Junior Lori Lidlow (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) also reached double figures with 11 points and dished out five assists, while sophomore Cherelle Simmons (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) added nine points and pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds.

Sophomore Hannah Smith (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) finished with seven assists, freshman Jessica Hoover (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) continued her stellar play off the bench with nine points and two blocked shots, and senior Kaila Wiand (Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford) played well in her final regular season home game with eight points and four steals.

Seniors Danielle Michlovsky and Courtney Turner each finished their careers with 15 points as the lone double digit scorers for the Devils.

The Bulldogs will be making their 13th straight appearance in the Freedom Conference playoffs on Wednesday when they host Delaware Valley College. Game time is set for 6:00 pm and for those unable to attend you can follow the game's progress online via LIVE Stats or LIVE Audio.
