DSU got two more runs in the sixth to take a 7-0 lead on RBI hits from junior Mike Newland (Frenchtown, NJ/Delaware Valley) and Ridge and tacked on one more run in the eighth on an RBI triple from Newland.
Drinks did the rest as he shutout the Colonels over the first six innings before giving up two runs on a two-out double in the seventh inning. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter in his first career Freedom Conference start. Senior Mark Reilly (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame) and senior Joe Walsh (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to seal the win.
