BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (April 1, 2010) – Senior Kevin Walker (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) did it all on Thursday afternoon, scoring two goals and one assist, picking up a game-high 15 ground balls, and winning 14-of-17 face-offs leading the DeSales University men's lacrosse team to a very important 9-7 win over previously unbeaten in the MAC Conference Manhattanville College on a perfect afternoon in Center Valley, PA.

The Bulldogs (3-5, 2-1 MAC) never trailed on Thursday and scored four unanswered goals after the Valiants (3-5, 2-1 MAC) got within one goal (5-4) with 8:27 left in the third quarter to put the game away. DSU out-shot Manhattanville, 35-27, picked up 23 more ground balls than the Valiants (50-27), and won 15-of-18 of face-offs in the game.

Walker provided the biggest play of the game, igniting DSU's four-goal stretch to end the third quarter and start the fourth period. After MVille scored three straight goals cutting the a 5-1 lead down to 5-4 with 8:27 left in the third quarter, Walker won the face-off, picked up the ground ball, ran thru the entire Valiant defense and scored unassisted with just seven seconds ticking off the clock, taking all the momentum away from Manhattanville and pushing that momentum right back on the DSU sideline as the Bulldogs put the game away with four unanswered tallies over the next 12 minutes and 35 seconds of the game.

Sophomore Michael Bassani (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) was the scoring leader for DeSales with four goals, while junior Whit Bruemmer (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) added two markers and freshman James Guerrier (Floral Park, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) netted one.

Senior Jarryd Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) had two assists and senior Matthew Kruszewski (Atco, NJ/Winslow Township), sophomore Brendan Guerrier (Floral Park, NY/Chaminade), and junior Justin Campanelli (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) each added one assist in the win. B. Guerrier picked up 11 ground balls and Bassani and junior Jon Devine (Philadelphia, PA/North Catholic) each had five ground balls. Campanelli made just five saves, but had three big ones in the fourth period as Manhattanville tried to get back into the game.

DeSales returns to action on Tuesday, April 6th when they travel to Eastern University for another important MAC Conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
