Center Valley, PA (April 1, 2010) – The DeSales University men's tennis team dropped its Freedom Conference season opener, falling to visiting King's College in the first conference match of the season for both teams on a perfect Thursday afternoon in Center Valley, PA.
DSU (0-4, 0-1 Freedom) started strong, taking a 2-1 lead after the three doubles matches but were only able to win one singles match as King's (2-5, 1-0 Freedom) came from behind for the victory.
Earning wins for the Bulldogs were juniors Thomas Grace (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills) and Anthony Guerriero (Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills), 8-6 at the No. 2 doubles position and freshmen Adam Dorn (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) and Robert Felty (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua) at the No. 3 doubles spot, 8-3.
Junior Joe Sulpizio (Bath, PA/Notre Dame) was the lone singles winner, gutting out a tough three-set win, 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-2) at the No. 6 spot.
The Bulldogs break for the Easter holiday and return to action on the road when they travel to Wilkes University for another Freedom Conference on Tuesday, April 6th beginning at 3:30 pm.
