BOX SCORE

Limeport, PA (April 13, 2010) – The DeSales University baseball team struggled for the second straight game leaving runners on-base as the Bulldogs left 10 more men on-base in a 3-1 loss to local rival Moravian College in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening at Limeport Stadium.

The Bulldogs (15-12 overall) fell behind 1-0 in the top of the third inning after the Greyhounds (15-9 overall) drew a walk, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single with one out.

DSU had a chance to do some damage in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases on a walk and two Moravian errors, but consecutive strikeouts left the bases loaded and a ground ball to second base ended the threat with Moravian still clinging to a 1-0 lead.

The score remained until the sixth inning when MC scored two more runs without registering a hit. Consecutive one-out walks, moved to second and third on a double steal that saw the Bulldogs also commit two errors on the play with the catcher throwing the ball into left field allowing one runner to score and then the left-fielder bobbled the ball allowing the trail runner to move up to third, later scoring on a wild pitch.

The Bulldogs scored its only run in the ninth when sophomore Jack Kavetski (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) singled home senior Andrew Feher (Riegelsville, PA/Palisades) who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning. DSU had runners on second and third with two out, but sophomore Ethan Moser (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) struck out to end the game.

Kavetski had two of the Bulldogs' four hits in the loss. Senior Mark Reilly (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame) took the loss, despite pitching well allowing just three hits and one run over five innings with three strikeouts. Kavetski also stole two bases.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they travel to Misericordia University for the first of three games this weekend. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm on Friday.
