Early Deficit Dooms DeSales in 12-6 Loss at Messiah

Sophomore Michael Bassani had three goals in the loss at Messiah on Wednesday night.

Grantham, PA (April 14, 2010) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team fell behind 10-3 after two periods thanks to a 6-1 advantage in the second period and were unable to recover in the second half, falling at Messiah College, 12-6, in an important MAC Conference game under the lights on Wednesday evening.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 3-8 overall and 2-4 in the MAC, while the Falcons improve to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in the MAC. Messiah dominated play in almost every category with a 39-26 advantage in shots, a 34-23 advantage in ground balls, and a 15-7 advantage in face-offs won.

Leading the Bulldogs was sophomore Michael Bassani (Califon, NY/Voorhees) with three goals, junior Whit Bruemmer (Holland, PA/Council Rock South), with two goals, and freshman James Guerrier (Floral Park, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) with one goal and one assist. Senior Matthew Kruszewski (Atco, NJ/Winslow Township) had one assist, senior Kevin Walker (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) had eight ground balls and won seven face-offs, and junior Justin Campanelli (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made 14 saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they return home to host Lebanon Valley College in another MAC Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
