Freshman David Drinks recorded his second straight nine inning complete-game on Friday in the win over Manhattanville College.

BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (April 23, 2010) – Freshman David Drinks (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) tossed his second straight nine-inning complete game and junior Carson Slonaker (East Greenville, PA/The Perkiomen School) knocked in four runs as the DeSales University baseball team took the first of three games with Manhattanville College on Friday afternoon at Butz Field, 7-2.

Drinks was outstanding holding Manhattanville (15-16, 9-7 Freedom), who came into the game batting .378 as a team, to just five hits over nine innings. He allowed two runs (one earned), did not walk a batter, and struck out six, improving to 7-0 on the year and lowering his already microscopic ERA to 1.95 on the season.

Slonaker did most of the damage at the plate knocking in one run in the first inning on an RBI double, another run in the third inning on a single, and two more in the eighth inning on a two-run home run. Senior Derek Moyer (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) also had an RBI single in the first inning and freshman Derek Chrismer (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) had an RBI hit as part of the three-run eighth inning. Sophomore Jack Kavetski (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) stayed hot at the plate with three hits and three runs scored in the win.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they travel to Manhattanville College for the second and third game of the weekend series. First pitch in game one is set for 1:00 pm. For those unable to make the trip, LIVE Stats will be available to follow the action.
