BOX SCORE

Dallas, PA (April 24, 2010) – Junior Whit Bruemmer (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) and senior Kevin Walker (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) each scored four goals as the DeSales University men's lacrosse team used a six-goal third period to pull away from Misericordia University en route to a 13-4 over the Cougars in MAC Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (5-9, 4-5 MAC) keep their playoff hopes alive but will need two wins this coming week and some help from a few other teams in order to earn their second straight MAC playoff berth. DSU hosts Elizabethtown College on Tuesday and King's College on Saturday this week. On Saturday, DSU controlled the entire game, out-shooting the Cougars (3-11, 1-8 MAC), 43-26, holding a 46-26 advantage in ground balls, and winning 17-of-20 face-offs.

Bruemmer and Walker each had four goals to lead the offensive attack. Freshman Nicholas Freda (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor) scored the first two goals of his career, junior Jon Devine (Philadelphia, PA/North Catholic) scored once as did senior Patrick McManimon (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) and freshman Ben Krocheski (Plano, TX/Shelton). Bruemmer and senior Matthew Kruszewski (Atco, NJ/Winslow Township) each had an assist in the win.

Walker won 15-of-17 face-offs and picked up 14 ground balls as she broke the single-season record for ground balls in one season, upping his season total to 137 this year. Sophomore Brendan Guerrier (Floral, Park, NY/Chaminade) had 10 ground balls and junior Justin Campanelli (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) had 10 saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

DeSales returns to action on Tuesday when they host Elizabethtown College in a rematch of last year's first round playoff game. Start time is set for 4:00 pm.
