Huge Third-Period Helps Bulldogs Finish Season with 15-8 Win over King’s

Senior Matthew Kruszewski had three goals and two assists in his final career game on Saturday.

Center Valley, PA (May 1, 2010) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team had a terrific end to the 2010 season, scoring seven goals in a huge third period effort to earn a 15-8 win over King's College in the final MAC Conference game of the season for both teams on a perfect Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 5-4 at the half, DSU (6-10, 5-6 MAC) dominated the second half, and in particular the third period, out-scoring the Monarchs (6-9, 4-7 MAC), 7-1 in the third period to take a 11-6 lead and never looked back from there. The Bulldogs out-shot King's, 48-36, had 20 more ground balls (49-29), won 19-of-27 face-offs and went 4-for-4 on extra-man opportunities in the win.

Leading the scoring attack was junior Whit Bruemmer (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) and sophomore Michael Bassani (Califon, NY/Voorhees) with six points each including three goals and three assists for Bassani and five goals and an assist for Bruemmer. Senior Matthew Kruszewski (Atco, NJ/Winslow Township) added three goals and two assists for five points and fellow senior Kevin Walker (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) had two goals and an assist for three points. Walker also had 10 ground balls and won 18-of-25 face-offs.

Senior Jarryd Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) finished with two assists, sophomore Tony Fabrizio (Hellertown, PA/Easton) and freshman James Guerrier (Floral Park, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) each scored one goal and senior Patrick McManimon (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) had one assist to round out the scoring.

Junior Justin Campanelli (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made nine saves in goal for the Bulldogs and sophomore Brendan Guerrier (Floral Park, NY/Chaminade) had nine ground balls in the win.

It was the final career game for seniors Walker, Kruszewski, McManimon, J. Stamatelos, and Dan Quinn (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West).
