Collegeville, PA (September 22, 2010) – Senior
Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) became the seventh player in DeSales University volleyball history to record 1,000 career kills with 12 kills including the 1,000th on match point leading the Bulldogs to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-12) win over Ursinus College on Wednesday evening.
Fehnel finished with a match-high 12 kills and added three blocks in the win. She has exactly 1,000 career kills now, reaching the milestone on the final point of the third set. Fehnel becomes the third player to reach the mark in the last two years after both
Joann Rivera and
Jen Mellon accomplished the feat last year.
Freshman
Haley Petrarca (Reading, PA/Wyomissing) continued her excellent play adding 10 kills and nine digs, sophomore
Paige Horrigan (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) added eight kills and three blocks, and junior
Lauren Hickey (Ridley, PA/Ridley Park) totaled 10 kills in the win.
Sophomore
Justine McNulty (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) had 34 assists, three service aces, and 10 digs and fellow sophomore
Eden Reichard (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine) finished with 23 digs in the win. Freshmen
Emilie Baker (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) and
Claire DePew (Denver, PA/Garden Spot) added 12 and eight digs in the win.
The Bulldogs return to action this weekend traveling to MIT for a tournament on Friday and Saturday. Friday's action will take place at nearby Tufts University before the tournament shifts to MIT on Saturday.
