Center Valley, PA, (September 4, 2010) – With winds gusting up to 28 miles per hour the DeSales University women's soccer team took advantage of playing with the wind in the second half to out-shoot Immaculata University, 10-1, in the final 45 minutes and scored twice to earn a 2-0 win over the Mighty Macs in non-conference action on Saturday.

The win is the second straight for the Bulldogs who start the season 2-0, while Immaculata falls to 0-2 on the year. In the first half when DSU was going against the win the two teams were dead even with eight shots a piece as junior Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) had to make four saves to keep IU off the scoreboard. The second half was all Bulldogs, owning a 10-1 shot advantage and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The first and eventual game-winning goal came in the 71st minute when junior Haley Vollmer (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) sent a corner kick into the box and senior Amanda Ziegler (Aston, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) headed the ball inside the near post for her first tally of the season.

DeSales added its insurance tally at the 83:02 mark when freshman Brady Walsh (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) took an excellent pass thru the defense from junior Amanda Fink (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) just outside the 18-yard box, dribbled into the box and fired a shot to the left of the keeper for her second goal of the year.

Millili and her defensive mates led by Ziegler and fellow senior Jena Meaney (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph Hill Academy) pitched their second straight shutout.

The Bulldogs waste no time in returning to action as they host Cedar Crest College, coached by alumnus Nicole Pietrobon, on Sunday beginning at Noon. LIVE Stats will be available on the DeSales web site for those unable to attend the game.
