St. David's, PA (October 8, 2011) – The DeSales University women's soccer team struggled on Saturday afternoon, falling to perennial Freedom Conference favorite Eastern University, 8-0, in a Freedom Conference game.

The Bulldogs (2-9-1, 0-2 Freedom) were out-shot 19-5 and Eastern (6-4-2, 2-0 Freedom) had an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Eagles scored three goals in the first half and tallied five more in the second half in the win.  Freshman Michelle Churchman, making her first career start against the Eagles who were picked to finish second in the pre-season poll and received the most first-place votes (4) of any team, played admirably, making eight saves in between the pipes.

DeSales returns to action on Wednesday, October 12th when they host Wilkes University in Freedom Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
