Late Rally Lifts Marymount past DeSales, 12-8

Arlington, VA (March 19, 2011) – Five straight goals by Marymount University at the end of the third and start of the fourth period broke a tie at six in a 12-8 win over the DeSales University men's lacrosse team in non-conference action on Saturday evening.

Trailing by three goals after the first period, DeSales (0-4) rallied for four goals in the second period to pull within one, 5-4, at the break. Two goals to start the third period tied the game at six before two goals with under two minutes left and three more to start the fourth period pushed Marymount (2-6) up 11-6 before the final 12-8 margin was posted.

Junior Tony Fabrizio led the Bulldogs with three goals on the offensive end. Also scoring goals were sophomore James Guerrier, freshman Chalie Wilmer, senior Donald Clemens, sophomore Jarrod Wiedow, and freshman Bruce Peditto. J. Guerrier and junior Brendan Guerrier each had assists with Brendan tallying two.

Sophomore Brennan Gmeiner won 12-of-22 face-offs and had seven ground balls, B. Guerrier picked up six ground balls and senior Joe Paugh had three ground balls and senior Justin Campanelli made 10 saves in goal.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday when they host Lycoming College beginning at 4:00 pm in the first MAC Conference game of the season.
