BOX SCORE
Center Valley, PA (March 22, 2011) – With a possibility of snow in the forecast for tomorrow the DeSales University offense did nothing to help heat up the temperature, managing just three infield hits in an 8-0 loss to Neumann University in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon at Butz Field.
The Knights (12-3 overall) broke open a close game in the sixth inning scoring three runs on three walks and just one hit, taking a 5-0 lead, and never looking back from there. The Bulldogs (6-6 overall) were unable to hit one ball into the outfield, registering three infield singles, with the hardest hit ball a line out to the shortstop to end the game in the bottom of the ninth by sophomore
Derek Chrismer.
Eight different pitchers saw action for DeSales including juniors
Jack Kavetski and
Travis Hughes who each tossed two shutout innings in the loss. Sophomore
Carlos Guerrero also pitched well, recording a scoreless fourth inning to keep the game close early. Sophomore
Brendan Duffy took the loss, allowing the first run of the game, an unearned tally in the third inning.
DeSales returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Kean University for another non-conference battle with first pitch set for 3:30 pm.
