BOX SCORE

Little Falls, NJ (March 29, 2011) – The DeSales University baseball team was unable to earn its second straight win falling to non-conference foe Montclair State University, 5-1, on Tuesday afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium.

The Red Hawks (7-5 overall) did all of their damage with two outs on Tuesday, scoring three times in the second inning all with two outs and two more times in the fifth, again with two outs on the scoreboard. Trailing 3-0 in the fourth inning, the Bulldogs (7-7 overall) did get on the board when sophomore Brian Mauro scored on an RBI base knock from senior Carson Slonaker but junior Jason Hadinger was thrown out at the plate to end the inning on a double steal attempt thwarting the rally.

Both teams had seven hits with just one being an extra base-hit, a double off the bat of Jay Bionde. Sophomore Colby Pacillo took the loss, his first of the season, totaling four innings, allowing four hits and three runs, striking out two. Junior Jack Kavetski led the offensive attack with two hits and a stolen base.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday when they again take to the road at Lebanon Valley College beginning at 3:30 pm.
