Bulldogs Fall Short in Bid for Second Straight Win

Hershey, PA (March 30, 2011) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team got behind early and was unable to recover late, falling in its bid to win a second straight game with a 13-2 loss at Elizabethtown College on Wednesday afternoon at Hershey Park Stadium.

The Blue Jays (3-3, 1-2 MAC) scored four times in the first, led 6-0 at the break, and had a 10-0 lead thru three quarters before DSU (1-5, 1-1 MAC) got on the board late in the fourth quarter to post the final margin.

Elizabethtown out-shot DeSales, 42-20, and held a 43-28 edge in ground balls in the win. The Bulldogs win 10-of-19 face-offs, led by sophomore Brennan Gmeiner, who won 10-of-18 face-offs.

Sophomore Jarrod Wiedow and freshman Chalie Wilmer each scored goals, while junior Brendan Guerrier picked up a team-high seven ground balls and forced four turnovers.  Senior Justin Campanelli made 13 saves in between the pipes.

DeSales will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Lebanon Valley College for another MAC Conference contest beginning at 1:00 pm.
