David Drinks tossed a six-hit nine-inning complete-game and junior
Kenny Ridge had two hits including a home run as the DeSales University baseball team got off to a terrific start to the 2011 season with a 5-2 win over Texas Lutheran University in the first game of an eight-game seven-day spring break trip out to San Antonio, TX.
Ridge started things off with a solo home run in the top of the first inning giving DSU a 1-0 lead and the Bulldogs never trailed, adding a run in the fourth on an RBI single from sophomore
Chris Zucchi and three more runs in the top of the ninth inning on a bases loaded walk from senior
Doc Neiman and a two-RBI single from junior
Jason Hadinger to provide some insurance runs.
Drinks was outstanding, tossing just 104 pitches thru nine innings, allowing just six hits and two runs. He walked just one and struck out five. It was Drinks' third career complete-game.
Ridge finished with two hits as did Hadinger to lead a nine-hit offensive attack.
DeSales returns to action on Monday when they take on Schreiner University in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm locally on the East coast.
