BOX SCORE
Camden, NJ (April 11, 2011) – Rutgers-Camden scored twice in both the eighth and ninth innings, rallying for a 7-6 win over the DeSales University baseball team in non-conference action on Monday evening at Campbell's Field.
The Bulldogs (13-9 overall) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on RBI hits from juniors
Jason Hadinger and
Ethan Moser and never trailed in the game until the final at-bat in the game.
Camden got within 3-2 and 4-3 but a run in the fifth, sixth, and seventh for the Bulldogs gave the visitor's a comfortable 6-3 edge entering the bottom of the eighth inning. Rutgers (9-12 overall) got within a run for the third time on the night with two runs in the eighth including one unearned tally.
In the ninth, an intentional walk loaded the bases with one out and junior
Travis Hughes induced a potential game-ending double play but an error by the Bulldogs saw the ball roll into the outfield and two runs score as Camden escaped with the win.
Hughes took the loss, allowing four runs, two earned, and five hits over 1.2 innings pitched. Junior
Jack Kavetski had a good day at the plate with three hits and two runs scored, but made two errors in the field, part of a five-error day for the Bulldogs. Moser finished with three hits and two RBIs in the loss.
DeSales will look to rebound on Wednesday when they host The University of Scranton in another non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
