Reading, PA (April 13, 2011) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team scored four goals in the first quarter and led 4-0 after 15 minutes of play and never looked back from there in a 9-6 win over Alvernia University in MAC Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs improve to 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the MAC with the win, while Alvernia drops to 2-10 overall and 0-7 in the MAC. DeSales enjoyed a 37-24 advantage in shots, a 34-18 edge in ground balls, and won 14-of-18 face-offs for the game.
Leading the scoring attack was junior
Tony Fabrizio with four goals and one assist. Freshman
Bruce Peditto added two goals, and sophomore
James Guerrier, sophomore
Jarrod Wiedow, and freshman
Chalie Wilmer each had one goal in the win.
Seven players had assists including Fabrizio, Peditto, Wilmer, junior
Brendan Guerrier, sophomore
Billy Marsh, sophomore
Nicholas Freda, and freshman
Jacob Bernier.
Senior
Justin Campanelli made eight saves in between the pipes, senior
Donald Clemens had six ground balls and five caused turnovers, B. Guerrier had six ground balls and seven caused turnovers, sophomore
Brennan Gmeiner won 14-of-17 face-offs and had 11 ground balls, and senior
Jon Devine and Wilmer also each had three ground balls.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, April 16th when they host FDU-Florham beginning at 1:00 pm.
