Three Late Goals Spoil another DeSales Comeback

Sophomore Josh Martin had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon.

Center Valley, PA (April 19, 2011) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team scored the first two goals of the fourth period to tie the score at three, but three unanswered goals by Lycoming College, spoiled the comeback in a 6-3 Warrior win in MAC Conference action on another soggy afternoon on Thursday.

The Bulldogs fall to 2-10 overall and 2-6 in the MAC, while Lycoming improves to 7-6 overall and 6-2 in the MAC. DeSales out-shot the Warriors, 26-24, and Lycoming had a 34-31 edge in ground balls. LC dominated the face-offs, winning 10-of-13 for the game and was 2-for-2 in man-up opportunities.

Leading the Bulldogs were senior Donald Clemens and sophomore Josh Martin with one goal and one assist each. Junior Tony Fabrizio also scored one goal for the Bulldogs. Clemens also finished with eight ground balls and forced three turnovers.

Junior Brendan Guerrier had six ground balls and four caused turnovers and senior Jon Devine picked up four ground balls and had two caused turnovers. Senior Justin Campanelli played well in net, allowing six goals, and making 13 saves.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday when they travel to Manhattanville College for another MAC Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
