Four-Run Sixth Lifts Moravian past DeSales, 5-3

Senior Ronnie Wentz had three hits and was on-base all four times on Tuesday night vs. Moravian College.

Limeport, PA (April 26, 2011) – Moravian College scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 3-1 deficit in a 5-3 win over the DeSales University baseball team in the annual non-conference game under the lights at Limeport Stadium with proceeds generated benefitting the Angel 34 Foundation.

The Bulldogs fall back to the .500 mark with a 14-14 overall record, while Moravian improves to 27-7 overall. DSU took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning on an RBI groundout from junior Jack Kavetski and an RBI single from senior Doc Neiman plating Kavetski.

Moravian got one back in the bottom of the frame on a solo home run from Jason Huber and then in the sixth Huber again went yard with his second solo shot of the game to lead-off the inning and plated three more runs to take a 5-3 lead and eventually the win.

Rob Solano earned the win going eight innings allowing seven hits and just one earned run. Kyle Longernecker worked the ninth allowing just one hit to record his eighth save of the season. Junior Colby Pacillo took the loss allowing four runs on five hits over 2.2 innings of work.

Senior Ronnie Wentz continued his solid hitting with three more hits to lead an eight-hit attack for the Bulldogs.

DSU returns to action tomorrow when they travel to FDU-Florham for a Freedom Conference doubleheader beginning at 2:00 pm.
