Widener Pulls Away from Bulldogs in 12-6 Loss

Chester, PA (April 26, 2011) – A tie game at three after one period was stretched to a 7-4 lead at the half and a 10-4 lead after three periods as Widener University pulled away from the DeSales University men's lacrosse team in a 12-6 loss at Widener in MAC Conference action on Tuesday evening.

Widener (12-2, 10-0 MAC) dominated in shots, out-shooting the Bulldogs (3-11, 3-7 MAC), 54-19, and also held a 35-17 edge in ground balls. Senior Justin Campanelli finished with 12 saves in net for DeSales.

Junior Tony Fabrizio had three goals and an assist, sophomore James Guerrier and freshman Bruce Peditto each had a goal and an assist and sophomore Nicholas Freda also scored. Seniors Jon Devine and Donald Clemens each had assists in the loss. Clemens and junior Brendan Guerrier totaled five ground balls and B. Guerrier won 7-of-15 face-offs in the loss.

The Bulldogs will conclude their 2011 season on Saturday when they host Eastern University in the season finale beginning at 1:00 pm.
