Bulldogs Fall to Loser’s Bracket with 12-5 Loss to FDU-Florham

Senior Doc Neiman had two hits and scored twice in the opening round loss to FDU-Florham.

Quakertown, PA (May 6, 2011) – FDU-Florham scored 11 runs over the first four innings and never looked back from there sending the DeSales University baseball team into the loser's bracket with a 12-5 win over the Bulldogs in the opening round of the Freedom Conference playoffs.

The Devils advance to play Misericordia University tomorrow at 3:00 pm with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship game, while the Bulldogs will fight to stay alive on Saturday morning at 11:00 am vs. King's College. The winner of the game will play the loser of the 3:00 pm game at 7:00 pm tomorrow night.

FDU jumped all over the Bulldogs scoring twice in the first inning and three more times in the third inning when the Devils smashed three solo home runs off sophomore Colby Pacillo. They added two more runs in the third inning and pushed the lead up to 11-0 in the fourth inning with four more tallies.

Down 12-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, DSU got on the scoreboard with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on RBI doubles from sophomore Chris Zucchi and junior Jack Kavetski and a sacrifice fly from freshman Charles Dennis. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the eighth inning on an RBI single from sophomore Bill Marriott and another sacrifice fly from Zucchi.

Marriott and senior Doc Neiman each had two hits in the loss. Pacillo was tagged with the loss on the mound, lasting two innings allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out one.
