Madison, NJ (September 17, 2011) – The DeSales University women's soccer team fell behind 2-0 thru one half of play but made a game of it in the second half getting within 2-1 early in the half and 3-2 with just over 13 minutes left but were unable to finish off the comeback with a 3-2 loss to Drew University on Saturday afternoon.

The Rangers (1-5) get their first win of the season thanks in large part to their play in the first half when Katie O'Keefe scored twice to give DU a 2-0 first-half lead.

After three consecutive cards, two red cards, assessed to Drew early in the second half, the second of which awarded DeSales a penalty kick, senior Haley Vollmer scored to cut the margin down to one with 41 minutes left still to play.

The Bulldogs (1-5) began putting more offensive pressure on the Rangers, up a player on the field thanks to the two red cards, hitting the post once but never able to come up with that tying tally.

Drew scored what proved to be a very important insurance goal as Emily Welda found the back of the net, this time off a feed from O'Keefe, in the 75th minute.

DSU did not hang its heads and answered right back when junior Christina Pietrobon found a streaking Brady Walsh who finished on her end, scoring her fourth goal of the season and the first after sitting out the last two games with an injury making it a 3-2 game.

Drew however turned up the defensive pressure over the final 13+ minutes, not allowing another DeSales shot to hang on for the one-goal win.

Senior Melissa Millili made two saves for the Bulldogs in between the pipes.

DSU will return to action on Wednesday, September 21st when they host Lebanon Valley College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:30 pm.
