Center Valley, PA (September 27, 2011) – Albright College scored on a penalty kick with no time left on the clock tying the game at three and neither team was able to find the back of the net in two overtimes as the DeSales University women's soccer team had to settle for a 3-3 tie with the Lions in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (1-7-1) led by scores of 2-0 and 3-2 but were unable to hold the lead.  Albright had a free kick from just inside midfield with 6.5 seconds on the clock as the Lions (3-1-2) sent their entire team into the box including the goalkeeper.  The free kick flew over everyone's head but a DSU defender collided with the Bulldog keeper and a Lion was there to fire the loose ball into the net but the defender who ran into the goalkeeper deflected the shot with her hand as time expired giving AC a penalty kick with no time left.

Mel Sullivan, who was injured on the foul with 6.5 seconds left, collected herself and calmly fired the PK into the top left corner tying the game at three and sending it into overtime.

The Bulldogs had led 1-0 in the first half and at halftime on an own goal when senior Amanda Fink sent a cross in front of the Albright net but a Lion defender volleyed the clear attempt right into the corner of the net for DSU's first goal.

DSU made it 2-0 5:39 into the second half when sophomore Lydia Younger sent a pass to a streaking freshman Alyssa Brandt who netted her first career tally for a 2-0 lead.

Albright countered and got on the board at 56:08 when Katie Cooper scored off a feed from Jordan Cassidy and tied the game 22 minutes later in the 79th minute when a pass through was bobbled by the charging DSU keeper and Lauren O'Brien was there to put the ball into the wide open net.

Sophomore Brady Walsh then gave the Bulldogs the lead back, finishing on a perfect over the top pass from Younger, who earned her second assist of the day, at the 84:22 mark before Albright eventually tied the game with no time left and the two teams went scoreless in the two overtimes.

DeSales had perhaps the best chance in the overtime periods as freshman Megan Strauser broke free and had a one-on-one with the goalkeeper in the second overtime but her shot was blocked by the Lion keeper and eventually cleared away.

DSU held a 23-16 advantage in shots, while Albright had a 12-7 advantage in corner kicks.  Senior Melissa Millili made five saves for DeSales, while Olivia Giuliano had eight stops.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they begin the second part of their season opening Freedom Conference play at Manhattanville College beginning at 1:00 pm.
