Women’s Soccer Drops Second Game at Virginia Wesleyan Tournament

Virginia Beach, VA (September 4, 2011) – The DeSales University women's soccer dropped its second game of the Virginia Wesleyan College Tournament over the weekend, falling to Christopher Newport University, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops DeSales to 1-2 overall.  CNU held a 26-10 advantage in shots and a slim 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Down 1-0 at halftime, the Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 at the 77:00 minute mark but pulled within one goal in the 81st minute when sophomore Brady Walsh scored off a feed from senior Amanda Fink.  DeSales was unable to find the tying marker over the final 10 minutes before Newport added a third tally with just 54 seconds left.

Junior Alex Bastinelli and senior Melissa Millili combined to make 13 saves in the loss.

DSU returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when they take on Arcadia University beginning at 4:00 pm.
