Center Valley, PA (October 16, 2012) – The DeSales University women's soccer team was unable to hold a 1-0 halftime lead as Manhattanville College scored three times in the second-half to earn a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs in Freedom Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Jamie Barna gave DSU (6-8-1, 1-4 Freedom) a 1-0 lead 15-12 into the game when she took control of a shot from junior Melissa Pugliese that was saved by the Valiant (6-8, 2-3 Freedom) keeper and deposited her fourth goal of the season, tying her for second on the team.

That lead stood into the break as both teams had four shots at the half and two corner kicks each.

The second-half was all Manahattanville as they put consistent pressure on the DeSales defense, scoring three times to earn the win.  Brittney Smith scored all three goals for the Valiants, the first two on crossing passes and the second after a long pass thru the defense creating a 1-v-1 with the goalkeeper.

Senior Alex Bastinelli made three saves in the loss.

The Bulldogs will look to snap its three-game skid when they travel to Delaware Valley College for a Freedom Conference game on Saturday afternoon beginning at noon.
