Wilkes Rallies for 3-2 Win over Bulldogs

Center Valley, PA (October 20, 2012) – Sophomore Alison Malatesta gave the DeSales University field hockey team a 1-0 lead at the half, but three straight goals by Wilkes University in the second half gave the Colonels a 3-2 win after a late goal by the Bulldogs in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Malatesta scored off an assist from junior Jen Burley 17:09 into the game and that lead held thru the first half as DSU (3-13, 0-6 Freedom) out-shot Wilkes, 7-5, thru the first 35 minutes.

Wilkes (7-8, 2-4 Freedom) took control in the second-half, out-shooting the Bulldogs, 10-5, tying the game 5:20 into the half and adding goals at 51:17 and 56:47 before senior Amber Collins scored on a stroke with 17 seconds left in the game.

Senior Victoria DelToro made five saves in the loss as DeSales suffers its 11th straight loss.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, October 23rd when they travel to King's College for a Freedom Conference game at 4:00 pm.
