Moyer’s Double-Double gives DSU Eighth Straight at Wilkes, 85-68

Wilkes-Barre, PA (December 1, 2012) – Senior Brett Moyer recorded his second double-double of the season with 24 points and 13 rebounds leading four players in double digits as the DeSales University men's basketball team won its eighth straight game in the Marts Center, 85-68, over Wilkes University in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Moyer was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line as the Bulldogs shot 80.5 percent (33-for-41) from the free throw line.  Sophomore Michael Guldin added 17 points and was 11-for-11 from the line and totaled five assists and four assists.  Junior Kyle Hash finished with 11 points and junior Andrew Kohler totaled 10 points and seven rebounds.

For the second straight game DSU never trailed opening up as much as a nine-point lead before settling for a seven-point margin at the break.

The Bulldogs led by 11 (55-44) after a three-pointer from freshman Cody Deal with 12:18 to go before Wilkes used an 8-0 run to pull within three (55-52) at the 11:08 mark.

DeSales responded out of a timeout using an 18-3 run over the next 6:18 to put the game away taking a 73-55 lead with just under five minutes remaining.  Moyer keyed the game-clinching spurt with eight points.

DSU dominated the glass out-rebounding the Colonels 47-26 and took excellent care of the ball committing just 12 turnovers, including just three in the second half.

Wilkes got 42 of its 68 points from Chris Shovlin (25 points) and Tyler Breznitsky (17 points) in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday when they host Catholic University in a non-conference game beginning at 8:00 pm.
