Bulldogs Sting Wasps to Win Second Straight

Center Valley, PA (December 16, 2012) - Senior Colleen Gavin and junior Sondrine Glovas comnbined for 37 points and 19 rebounds leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Emory & Henry College, 75-51, for the Bulldogs second straight win in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

Gavin finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 9-of-14 from the field, while Glovas added 15 points and nine boards.  Junior Alexiah Grant added 12 points, junior Allyson Scerbo had six points off the bench and junior Julia Duffy contributed seven points off the pine.

A close game early was broken up by the Bulldogs at the eight minute mark when DSU extended a three-point lead into a 14-point advantage with an 11-0 run over the next 3:12 as five different Bulldogs scored including Grant with four points.  The 14-point lead stood into the break as DeSales shot 43.2 percent and forced 17 first-half turnovers.

The second-half was all DeSales, scoring the first six points of the half as the lead peaked at 25 points and never went below 16 points the entire half.

Jalan McPherson led the Wasps (5-5) with 14 points and Carlyta Hamm added 10 points.  E&H is coached by second-year head coach Rose Katz, who played for the Bulldogs from 2004-08 appearing in 55 games and helping DSU post an 81-33 (.711) record in her four years.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they travel to Immaculata University for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
