Center Valley, PA (December 3, 2012) – The DeSales University women's basketball team took 19 more shots than Muhlenberg College but shot just 25.4 percent from the field and scored 11 less points as the Mules out-lasted the Bulldogs, 59-48, in a non-conference affair on Monday night in Billera Hall.

Junior Sondrine Glovas was the lone Bulldog (3-3) in double digits, scoring 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds.  Glovas' shot 7-for-13 from the field but the rest of DeSales was just 10-for-54 (18.5 percent) from the field.  Senior Taylor Greene had a game-high tying five assists and junior Julia Duffy equaled Glovas' eight rebounds with eight of her own off the bench.

Despite the poor shooting, DSU's defense was outstanding and kept the Bulldogs in the game until the very end.  Trailing by nine at the half (26-17), DeSales shook off a hoop to start the half by the Mules using a 12-2 run to pull within one point (30-29) with 15:29 to go.

Muhlenberg countered that Bulldog run with a 19-4 surge to take its largest lead of the night (16 points – 49-33) with 10:12 remaining but DeSales refused to go away.

Trailing by 15 with 7:57 to go, DSU used an 11-1 run capped off by back-to-back three's from Greene and junior Alexiah Grant to get within five (53-48) with 3:09 left to play.

Over the next two minutes the Bulldogs had their chance to get even closer but four missed shots over that two minute span spoiled any last minute comeback as the Mules went 6-for-6 down the stretch to ice the road win.

Muhlenberg (4-2) shot 43.8 percent from the field led by junior Erin Laney with her first career double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds.  Laney shot 10-for-14 from the field.  Kate Clawson added 15 points and seven boards off the bench and Alita Zabrecky totaled 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

DSU did a terrific job taking care of the ball recording more assists (14) than turnovers (13) and forced 23 Mule miscues in the loss.

The Bulldogs get right back to action on Wednesday, December 5th when they host Juniata College in a non-conference game beginning at 6:00 pm.
