Purchase, NY (February 9, 2012) – Freshman Alex Suk scored a season-high 23 points but Manhattanville College shot 60.0 percent from the floor in the first-half and scored 46 first-half points en route to a 67-54 win over the DeSales University women's basketball team on Thursday evening in Kennedy Gymnasium.

It was all Valiants (7-14, 2-9 Freedom) in the opening 20 minutes, opening up as much as a 29-point lead (46-17) before DeSales (12-10, 7-4 Freedom) closed the half on an 11-0 run to cut the margin down to 18 points at the half.  Suk scored nine of the 11 points during the run and had 18 of DSU's 28 points in the first-half.

The Bulldogs were unable to cut into the lead at the start of the second-half as MVille scored the first seven points to lead by 25 with 17 minutes remaining.  DSU answered that run with seven straight points of their own to pull back within 18 at the 12:52 mark but continued to trail by 18 with 4:41 to go.

A lay-up from Suk and a three from senior Hannah Smith got the Bulldogs within 13 with 2:07 to go but Manhattanville took care of the ball the rest of the way as time ran out on any DSU comeback.

Suk shot 9-for-12 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds in the win.  Sophomore Alexiah Grant added eight points and had four steals in the loss.

Taylor Wilson led the Valiants with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while Courtney Turner and Kelli Hyjek each tallied 12 points, and Stephanie Vaiano finished with 10 points, six assists, and four steals.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday when they return home to host FDU-Florham on senior day in Billera Hall and the last regular season home game of the year beginning at 1:00 pm.
