Box Score
Center Valley, PA (March 21, 2012) – Neumann University scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning, breaking a tie at two, and holding on for a 5-2 win over the DeSales University baseball team on Wednesday afternoon at Butz Field.

The Bulldogs (7-6) had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 after an RBI double from senior Kenny Ridge in the third inning and an RBI groundout also from Ridge in the fifth inning.

Neumann tied it at two in the sixth, but left runners at second and third with one out as freshman Jonathan Bujtas struck out the last two batters in the sixth to preserve the tie.

The Knights rallied in the seventh as the lead-off hitter reached via an error and scored two batters later on a triple from Will Flores.  NC finished the inning scoring three runs, only one of which was earned, and allowed just one Bulldog base-runner over the final three frames to earn the road victory.

Bujtas had his second straight strong outing on the bump, both of which have come vs. nationally ranked teams.  Today he lasted six innings allowing just six hits and two runs, while striking out six vs. the 25th ranked team in the nation.  Bujtas debut two weeks ago was six shutout innings in a 5-0 win over the #1 ranked team in the country, Trinity University (TX).

The Bulldogs are back at it on Friday when they return to Freedom Conference play with a single game at Delaware Valley College beginning at 3:30 pm.
