Center Valley, PA (March 24, 2012) – Junior David Drinks tossed a one-hit shutout in game one and junior Brian Mauro went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in game two to lead the DeSales University baseball to a doubleheader sweep and a three-game series sweep of Delaware Valley College with a 1-0 and 6-5 win on Saturday afternoon at Butz Field.

In the opener, Drinks allowed just four balls to reach the outfield and allowed just one hit, an infield single to shortstop in the first inning, striking out three and earning his second win of the season as the Bulldogs (10-6, 5-1 Freedom) scratched out a 1-0 win.

DSU scored its lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning when junior Justin Scerbo singled, went to second on a sacrifice bunt from senior Nick Chiovitti, stole third base, and scored on senior Kenny Ridge's single.  Drinks retired the side in order in each of the last four innings.  Ridge, Scerbo, and freshman Nick Fischer each had two hits in the game one win.

In the second game, DSU took a 4-0 lead with two runs in both the first and second inning to lead 4-0.  DVC cut the margin to one in the third, scoring three times but the Bulldogs answered in the fourth when Mauro blasted a two-run home run to make it a 6-3 game.

The Aggies (7-8, 0-5 Freedom) scored twice in the sixth before freshman Trevor Connors retired the final five batters to earn his second save of the season.

Senior Travis Hughes earned the win, his second of the season, pitching four innings allowing three runs and striking out two.  Ridge scored twice, while senior Ethan Moser and senior Jason Hadinger each had RBIs in the game two win.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday when they host Montclair State University in a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
