Bulldogs Win Streak Snapped at Three in 10-2 Loss to Montclair State

Center Valley, PA (March 27, 2012) – Montclair State University jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back from there in a 10-2 win over the DeSales University baseball team on Tuesday afternoon snapping the Bulldogs three-game winning streak entering the game.

MSU (7-7) scored once in the second, four times in the third, and twice in the fourth to open up the 7-0 lead before DSU posted single runs in the fifth and ninth innings.  Senior Jeffrey Pinto took the loss allowing six earned runs over three innings of work.

Junior Justin Scerbo and senior Jason Hadinger each had good days at the plate with three hits each, while senior Nick Chiovitti had two hits and scored once.  Freshman Nick Fischer was also 1-for-1 with an RBI hit in the ninth inning.

Junior Carlos Guerrero and junior Brendan Duffy combined to pitched 3.2 innings of solid relief allowing just one unearned run and striking out six.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday when they face University of Maine-Presque Isle in a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
