Center Valley, PA (March 29, 2012) – For the second time this season the DeSales University baseball team tied the record for most runs in a game with 26, in a 26-4 win over University of Maine-Presque Isle on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
DSU (11-7) also scored 26 runs in a Freedom Conference game vs. Delaware Valley College last week, tying the mark set in 1996 vs. Eastern University. The Bulldogs were also within one walk of tying the mark for most walks in a game, being handed first base 13 times on Thursday.
After a scoreless first inning, DeSales put five runs on the board in the second inning and never looked back. Senior
Ethan Moser capped off the inning with a three-run home run to right-field. DSU added seven more runs in the third and scored in all but the first and seventh innings.
Freshman
Jonathan Bujtas earned the win pitching four shutout innings allowing just one hit to improve to 2-0 on the year.
Eleven different players had hits and eight of those 11 had two or more hits in the game. Sophomore
Charles Dennis was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, Moser finished 4-for-5 with four runs scored and five RBIs, junior
Derek Chrismer had two hits, and sophomore
Kevin Regan had the first two hits of his career in the win.
Freshman
Drew Borger finished 2-for-3 with four runs scored and four walks, sophomore
Mark Westdyk was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, sophomore
Mark Fuse was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and freshman
Nick Fischer was 4-for-7 with three runs scored and three RBIs.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow afternoon when they continue conference play, hosting Eastern University beginning at 3:30 pm.
