St. David's, PA (April 1, 2012) – Two impressive pitching performances from junior David Drinks and senior Travis Hughes highlighted the DeSales University baseball team completing its three-game sweep of Eastern University with two wins on Sunday by scores of 7-4 and 1-0 after defeating the Eagles, 6-4 on Friday in the series opener.

In the first game on Sunday, Drinks pitched seven solid innings scattering 10 hits and four runs while striking out seven and not issuing a walk.  He shutout the Eagles thru the first five innings allowing DSU to build a 6-0 lead.

DSU (14-7, 8-1 Freedom) put four on the board in the second inning on consecutive squeeze bunts and an RBI single from junior Brian Mauro with two outs.  The Bulldogs added two more in the top of the sixth on RBI singles from freshman Drew Borger and Mauro and senior Ethan Moser finalized DSU's scoring with a solo home run to start the seventh.

Eastern rallied with two runs in both the sixth and seventh before Drinks closed the door to earn his third win of the season and record his second straight complete-game.  Mauro and Moser each had two hits, senior Nick Chiovitti and junior Justin Scerbo each scored twice, and Borger had two RBIs in the game one win.

The second game was all Hughes as he allowed just five hits over seven innings and struck out five without issuing a walk to also earn his third win of the season.  EU's biggest threat came in the fifth when it loaded the bases with one out, but a strikeout and fielder's choice ground out ended the threat as Hughes retired the last six in order to preserve the win.

DSU scored its lone run in the top of the first inning when DSU loaded the bases with no one out on a single and two walks and senior Kenny Ridge came around to score on a sacrifice fly from fellow senior Jason Hadinger.  Ridge had two of DSU's four hits in game two.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Rutgers-Newark for a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
