Bulldogs Win Seventh Straight Conference Game, 15-2, over King’s

Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 5, 2012) – Senior Kenny Ridge went 5-for-6 with four runs scored and the DeSales University baseball blew open a close game with 10 runs over the final three innings, rolling past King's College, for its seventh straight Freedom Conference win, 15-2, on Thursday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (15-8, 9-1 Freedom) scored in all but three innings and never trailed in the game.  King's (9-13, 3-7 Freedom) pulled to within 3-1 after three innings but managed just four hits on the afternoon.

DSU took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on three two-out hits including a three-run homer from junior Brian Mauro after singles from Ridge and senior Ethan Moser.  The Bulldogs responded to the Monarchs run in the third inning with solo runs in the fourth on an RBI double from freshman Drew Borger and a solo homer in the fifth by Ridge.

KC scored again in the sixth, but the Bulldogs broke it open in the seventh with two runs and added four more in the eighth and the ninth in the win.  Junior Colby Pacillo improved to 3-0 on the year, pitching six innings allowing just four hits and two unearned runs, striking out five.

Ridge added an RBI to hits five hits and four runs scored.  Ten of the 11 Bulldogs to get an at-bat recorded a hit.  Mauro finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBIs, Moser had two hits and scored twice, senior Nick Chiovitti went 2-for-6 with two runs scored, junior Derek Chrismer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Borger finished with two hits and two RBIs.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they travel to PSU-Berks for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
