Box Score
Quakertown, PA (May 6, 2012) – Needing a win to stay alive Misericordia University did just that, defeating the DeSales University baseball team, 8-2, to force the “if necessary” game on Monday with a winner take all in the Freedom Conference playoffs at Quakertown Memorial Park.

These two teams will do battle one more time, Monday night, under the lights beginning at 7:30 pm with the winner taking home the Freedom Conference title and earning the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

DSU (29-13) had a chance to earn the title on Sunday having advanced thru the winner's bracket with wins over FDU-Florham and Manhattanville College on Saturday, but after the Cougars (35-8) used a three-run rally in the loser's bracket championship in the ninth inning, MU carried that momentum into its game with the Bulldogs, scoring twice in both the second and third innings to lead 4-0.

The Bulldogs clawed back to within, 5-2 with runs in the fifth and sixth, but Misericordia three two-out unearned runs in the seventh to put the game away.

DeSales had just four hits in the game and got RBIs from sophomore Charles Dennis and junior Derek Chrismer, each on sacrifice flies.  Senior Kenny Ridge, junior Justin Scerbo, senior Jason Hadinger, and junior Brian Mauro each had one hit in the loss.  Senior Travis Hughes took the loss allowing five runs over five innings on nine hits.
