Box Score
Center Valley, PA (August 31, 2012) – Sophomore Megan Strauser scored two of the DSU's three second-half goals, breaking a 1-1 tie at halftime and leading the Bulldogs to a 4-1 win over Immaculata University in the 2012 season opener for both teams.

IU (0-1) opened the scoring 17:26 into the game when Rachel Gannon won a 50/50 ball that resulted in a 1-v-1 with the goalie and her first goal of the season.

DeSales responded and took control from there, out-shooting Immaculata, 23-6 for the game, and scoring four unanswered goals to earn its first win of the year and giving eight year head coach Mary Guarino the most career wins (46) in women's soccer history, surpassing Dave Yob, whom she was tied with entering the year.

Sophomore Alyssa Brandt put DSU up 2-1 in the 34th minute as she tapped home a goal after junior Lydia Younger beat the keeper to a 50/50 ball in the box and pushed it to the left post where Brandt was waiting to tap it in.

Strauser took over in the second half, breaking the tie at one with her first career goal, knocking in the rebound of a saved shot off the foot of freshman Jamie Barna.  Strauser then gave DSU a two goal lead in the 65th minute, scoring in the upper left corner after a thru ball from senior Christina Pietrobon.

Junior Christina Quinn added the final goal in the 81st minute, taking a pass in the box from Younger, who earned her second assist of the game, and scoring in the right corner.

Sophomore Michelle Churchman and senior Alex Bastinelli each played a half in the net, with Bastinelli recording the only two saves necessary.

DSU returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Wesley College for a non-conference game beginning at 6:00 pm.
