Bulldogs Set the Pace in 5-0 Win over Marywood

Scranton, PA (September 13, 2012) – Freshman Meryah Harding tallied one goal and two assists as the DeSales University field hockey team rolled past Marywood University, 5-0, in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (3-2) enjoyed a 20-11 advantage on shots and took control early, out-shooting the Pacers (0-3), 13-2, in the first-half in building a 3-0 lead.

Sophomore Alison Malatesta started the scoring with her first of two goals 11:29 into the game on Harding's first assist of the afternoon.  Harding made it 2-0 with an unassisted tally in the 22nd minute and Malatesta and Harding connected again just 2:02 later to make it a three goal game.

Senior Amber Collins got into the scoring act 7:54 into the second half, scoring on a penalty stroke and freshman Alessandra Farnesi capped off the scoring with her second of the season off an assist from junior Sara Barker in the 48th minute.

Senior Victoria DelToro made one save and freshman Becky Rasmuson added four saves in between the pipes.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday when they host Cedar Crest College in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
