Field Hockey Opens Freedom Schedule with 5-1 Loss at FDU-Florham

Madison, NJ (September 21, 2012) – The DeSales University opened its 2012 Freedom Conference schedule with a 5-1 loss to FDU-Florham on Friday evening.

The Devils took a 2-0 lead into the half before the Bulldogs (3-3, 0-1 Freedom) cut the margin in half when sophomore Alison Malatesta scored unassisted just five minutes in the second half.

FDU had the answer though scoring three unanswered goals to pull away from DeSales.  The Devils enjoyed a 20-8 advantage in shots and 12-5 edge in penalty corners.  Senior Victoria DelToro made 11 saves for the Bulldogs in goal.

DSU returns to action on Wednesday, September 26th when they travel to Arcadia University for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
