Gwynedd-Valley, PA (September 25, 2012) – Junior Melissa Pugliese scored her first goal of the season, a header off a free kick from sophomore Alyssa Borgesi with 3:07 left in the second overtime, as the DeSales University women's soccer team escaped Gwynedd-Mercy College with a 1-0 win.

It is the second straight win for the Bulldogs by identical 1-0 scores.  Unlike on Saturday when DSU was out-shot 25-6 but still walked away with a win, the Bulldogs were the dominant team offensively on Tuesday night, out-shooting the Griffins, 19-6, but were just unable to get one past the GMC keeper until the second OT period.

Sophomore Alyssa Brandt set-up the play drawing a foul just outside the box in the right corner.  Borgesi hit the free kick to the top of the six yard box where Pugliese beat her defender to the ball and headed a shot into the back of the net.

Senior Alex Bastinelli played the first half in goal without needing to make a save and freshman Taylor Cowan finished it off playing the final 61:53, recording one save.  Bastinelli ran her scoreless streak to 359:19 minutes dating back to last season which breaks the school-record previously set at 358:18 by Melissa Levush during the 2000 season.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday as they begin Freedom Conference play vs. Eastern University on homecoming beginning at 12:30 pm.
