Box Score
Center Valley, PA (September 5, 2012) – Despite leading 3-1 at the half and peppering the Albright College goal in a tie game over the last 10+ minutes of regulation, the DeSales University field hockey team suffered its first defeat of the season, 4-3, in overtime.

The first half belonged to the Bulldogs (1-1), scoring three times and out-shooting Albright 11-7 to gain a 3-1 lead.  Once again it was the Malatesta twins doing most of the damage as sophomore Alison Malatesta scored twice and sophomore Alyssa Malatesta once, with just 12 seconds left in the half on a nice feed from freshman sensation Meryah Harding.

Albright came out fired up to open the second half, scoring two quick goals over the first 9:16 to tie the game at three.  After a DSU timeout following the second Lion goal it was all DeSales to finish the second half.

DSU out-shot Albright, 20-8, in the second half and had an 11-3 advantage in penalty corners but just could not find the game-winner as the game shifted to overtime.

The overtime was a frenetic pace with each team countering another's full field odd-man rush.  Finally with just over three minutes gone, the Lions broke thru uncontested in the circle and despite a diving attempt from senior goalkeeper Victoria DelToro, AC's Alyssa Tourdot was able to push across the game-winner, her third goal of the game giving the Lions an exhausting 4-3 overtime win.

DelToro finished the game with eight saves in another solid effort despite the loss.

DSU will re-group and be back in action on Saturday when they host Ramapo College in another non-conference game beginning at 2:30 pm.
