Doylestown, PA (January 30, 2013) – Four players reached double digits and the DeSales University women's basketball held Delaware Valley College to 24.3 percent shooting, rolling past the Aggies, 71-45, in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening in James Work Gymnasium.
Junior
Alexiah Grant led the charge with 14 points and also pulled down seven rebounds, junior
Sondrine Glovas had 11 points, junior
Megan Gallagher recorded her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and senior
Colleen Gavin finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Senior
Taylor Greene dished out a game-high eight assists.
A close game (17-15) with 9:07 to play in the first half was broken open by the Bulldogs as they closed the first-half on a 21-4 run ignited by the DSU bench as juniors
Faith Gilbert and
Julia Duffy each hit three's to start the rally.
Gallagher closed the run with six of the final 10 points and led the way at the break with 10 first-half tallies as DSU shot 46.9 percent from the field and held Del. Val. to just 29.0 percent over the first twenty minutes.
The second-half was all Bulldogs as they extended its lead to as many as 26 points several times including the final tally. DSU dominated the glass once again vs. Delaware Valley, out-rebounding the Aggies, 55-38.
DeSales returns to action on Saturday when they take to the road once again traveling to Misericordia University for another Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
