Purchase, NY (October 5, 2013) – The DeSales University women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie in its 2013 season Freedom Conference opener at Manhattanville College on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (5-3-3, 0-0-1 Freedom) took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when freshman Jessica Wetherhold scored her third goal of the season off an assist from senior Ashley Koren and that lead stood into the half as DSU dominated play over the first 45 minutes with an 8-1 advantage in shots.

The lead was still one entering the 61st minute when the Valiants found the tying marker on a header just inside the post.

Neither team could find the game-winner over the final 29 minutes or in two overtimes with the game ending in a tie with DeSales holding a 17-8 edge in shots.

Junior Michelle Churchman made three saves for the Bulldogs.

DSU returns to action on Tuesday, October 8th when they travel to Cairn University for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
